Kaleidoscope Jewels

by Alexandra May | October 08, 2014 | 0 Comments

Every few months I like to produce a handful of beautiful postcards for the shop, so that both visitors and customers have something to remember us by. As you know, I love my kaleidoscopes on the homepage of Alexandra May, which showcase all our newest pieces, and it made sense to use these stunning images on our autumn postcards. I love the fact that they're square too, just a little bit different.

Pretty In Pink

by Alexandra May | September 29, 2014 | 0 Comments

Last winter was all about the pink coat, but this season our favourite shade of rose has spilled into accessories. Pink does not have to be girly girly, and worn with greys, neutrals and denim, it is sophisticated and elegant.

Whether it's hues of pale dusky pink or hot fuchsia, I love Anton Heunis' pretty pastels (below), Philippe Ferrandis' elegant drop earrings and cluster rings, and Konplott's new 'Twisted Flower' Opaline Fuchsia Crystal and Glass Ring  (bottom).

The Scarf Ring

by Alexandra May | September 10, 2014 | 0 Comments

I talked about rings back in July and I'm so relieved that they weren't just a summer fling. Rings are here to stay, and there is nothing more uplifting than dash of colour to take you through to autumn.

Again, the bigger the better when it comes to rings with clashing shades and sparkling stones. But don't think that these fabulous cocktail rings have to be reserved solely for the hands. Scarves - fine knitted or silk, rather than the thick chunky wool variety - are huge for this autumn/winter, whether they're tucked into our coat belts or draped around the neck. However, I LOVE wearing mine with a chunky cocktail ring, it's sophisticated and yet practical too. The perfect solution if you're not used to wearing large rings.

So whether it's your favourite Hermes scarf or a vintage find, you can't go wrong with these stunning rings from Philippe Ferrandis's new collections 'Copacabana' and 'Calipso'. The large clusters of sparkling Swarovski crystals in shades of pink, turquoise, red, green and yellow are just too tempting. Or for something a little more delicate I also adore, Ferrandis's 'Flower Power' rings with Swarovski crystals and pretty perspex flowers in pinks and reds or blue and lime green.
